Wondering if anyone has used one of these things & if so how well it held up. Seems like a cool idea.

DO NOT USE SPONGE REZ IN YOUR PLUGS!
From personal experience, putting Rez in you plug will really not do anything to keep the water out of it. I noticed that when I put Rez in my plug it just made it very hard to remove my plug, and when i did manage to remove it there was just as much water in it then if i were to not have put any Rez in the first place.

word. I'm specifically curious about this guy: http://www.ebodyboar...aled-Leash-Plug

Not so much worried about keeping water out or having to remove it. Seems like a cool idea to not have to pop a hole all the way through your board but wondering how well it holds up.

Thanks - yeah I've never had a standard leash plug pull out that's for sure.

I've been installing those plugs on my boards and countless others over the years and they're solid. The key is proper installation and a little prep work to the plug.

If installed properly, there will be no water absorption.

As far as strength? If you learn to hold on to your board (at least as long as possible) and not rely on your leash, these things hold up well. If they do pull out, they pull out a whole lot of foam with 'em.

Good luck.

Thanks. I just ordered a No. 6 from Jay and this makes me pretty hesitant to try it out on a nice new board. I don't have trouble holding onto my board through duckdives, closeouts, etc. But when you're in like 2ft. of water in front of a bomb set at Sandys or OTW what else can you do but ditch your board and hope for the best? I've snapped a few leashes that way over the years so I might just go with the standard plug job - hasn't failed me yet.

I've been using them for over a decade (Wahoo brand courtesy of eBB). Only one ever failed, and it was actually the foam around the plug and rez that gave way.
