Saige Malia Reale September - December 2003
The story... We were scheduled to induce labor
on Friday, September 12th because Vicki was 10 days overdue. Thursday
night we were packed and all ready to go to the hospital the next
morning at 7am. We had sat down to watch TV, and around 8:45pm that night, suddenly Vicki felt a pop, or a big kick in her belly. She fell to the floor on her knees and was in shock. Yes, her water had just broken. Vicki started having some strong, painful, and regular contractions right away. We got to the hospital at about 9pm and the nurses took us to a labor and delivery room. Vicki's mom Carol was by our side the whole time. At this stage Vicki was dilated 7cm already (she needs to be at 10cm) and as you might expect with a former pro booger girl, wanted no I.V., and no epidural... she wanted to do it "au natural". Labor lasted all of 2 hours and 20 minutes without as much as a grunt from Vicki. She said it was "easier than she expected" though it was no picnic by any standards. Little Saige popped out at 11:20pm and all was right with the world!
